| Coming soon to Modified Mustangs and Fords!! In April of 2007 I had the car towed to The Mustang Shop in Chandler to begin what would turn out to be a one-year restoration and a third re-birth. We became regular fixtures at the shop taking in every aspect of the rebuild, from new rear frame-rails, floor boards and trunk, to the reincarnation of the tired 289 into a high performance engine, some modern additions that further improved safety and performance, and a complete GT package. My son and I faithfully restored the original deluxe (“pony”) interior. In the end, the car is a bit more special than when it was delivered from the San Jose factory floor. It is a thrill to drive and has won numerous trophies from various shows around the state. In early 2011 my car was shot for a feature story in Modified Mustangs & Fords and will appear in the June 2012 issue. The reborn pony is now a weekend driver and will hopefully be enjoyed by several more generations of my family.      |      |
